The Government of India on Tuesday awarded a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi’s Department of Education to a woman who was working as a postgraduate postgraduate in the field of public administration.
The degree, which is the first of its kind for a government graduate, is being awarded to the first woman from the department to get the postgraduate degree.
“This is a great achievement by the Department of External Affairs, as we have a long way to go to achieve this goal,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
He said the Department would now take a look at the award.
“We are not ruling out any option to award an honorary degree to the woman in the future,” he added.
