Postgraduate medical colleges are among the most highly respected institutions in the country and have been offering postgraduate courses for over 30 years.
In 2017, the National Commission for Postgraduate Medical Education (NCMPE) announced the establishment of the Women College of SrikarakulAM to cater to the needs of women students in the State.NCMPEs are mandated to provide a variety of educational opportunities for women students and their families, and to ensure that women students are educated and empowered in their educational journey.
The College aims to provide opportunities for students to achieve their dreams through a comprehensive programme of research, development, and entrepreneurship.
The College aims at enabling women students to reach their full potential through study, and is focused on ensuring that the colleges are capable of providing these opportunities to all students.NCMEPs are the main mechanism of the state government for the development of women in the state, and they aim at ensuring the socio-economic empowerment of women by ensuring they are given opportunities to study, get an education, and attain a career.
NCMPEs also ensure the development and implementation of gender neutral curricula in all their activities and programmes.
The NCMPE has been in existence since 2009, and the first two years of its existence, it provided women students with access to four postgraduate programmes.
However, the number of postgraduate programs increased in 2017 to 32, which included three postgraduate medical and four postgraduate nursing programmes.
These posts were expanded to four more postgraduate classes in 2019 and 2020.
The third postgraduate programme was established in 2021, which includes the Bachelor of Nursing.
These classes were extended to eight more postgraduates in 2019.
The National Commission on Postgraduate Nursing (NCPN) is the body which coordinates the implementation of postgraduation programmes.
This body is also responsible for ensuring that postgraduations are inclusive of all genders and that the postgraduate educational experience is open to all.
The fourth postgraduate program, the Bachelor in Nursing, was established this year, which will include two posts in the Nursing and Midwifery, and one in the Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
The Bachelor of Veterinary Science will be open to both women and men.NCNMEPs also ensure that all postgraduate students are taken care of in the postgraduating course.
In order to facilitate the advancement of women, the NCNMEP also seeks to ensure women graduates are taken to their full development and career potential.NCMSF is an independent agency, headed by a retired doctor.
It is also a national body which has a role to ensure the advancement and development of the post-graduate programs.
The purpose of the NCMSF has been to provide postgraduate and post-bachelor programmes for women.
It has also ensured that all students get the full opportunities for study, which has also been done in partnership with the State Government.
The postgraduate curriculum of the College includes the following programmes:The College provides a full range of medical, nursing and health sciences and electives, including a Bachelor of Medicine.
The postgraduate degree is awarded to students who have achieved a minimum of two years, and it is recognised in the Medical and Nursing Colleges.
The degree is designed for both male and female students, with a maximum of one doctor for each male and one doctor in each female student.
The degrees are in two different types: bachelor of veterinary science and bachelor of nursing.
The master of veterinary sciences degree is conferred by the College to women who have reached the rank of a veterinarian.
The bachelor of nutrition and human nutrition degree is given to women students who are at the level of a pharmacist, with the maximum number of students in this category.
The Bachelor of Human Nutrition and Human Nutrition degree is available to both men and women.
In addition, women can also get a certificate in this program, which also provides them with a certificate of the Master of Nursing from the NCMPEO.
The University of Tamil Nadu has four post-graduation programs for women: the Bachelor Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor in Education, and Bachelor of Pharmacy.
The four post graduate programs are available to women in both Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and Bachelor in Chemical Technology.
The certificate in Bachelor of Food Science and Master of Food Technology is given only to women.NCUMs has two postgraduate training programmes: the Master Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor Bachelor in Technology.
